Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a serious health problem in society, where the prevalence increases every year in Indonesia. Insulin is one of the treatments used in type 1 and type 2 DM, therefore the use and storage of insulin must be correct in order to achieve blood glucose control. The objective of this study was to analyze the level of knowledge about the use and storage of insulin before and after being given education with video in DM patients at RSAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya. The research conducted with a pre-experimental design using the one group pre test and post test design technique. The sample in this study were 46 outpatient used insulin by determining the sample using the Slovin formula. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and mann whitney. The results showed that the level of knowledge of the respondents after being given education increased from 25 people (54,3%) to 45 people (97,8%). The level of knowledge before and after being given education with video media is significant (sig. 0.000).
