Knowledge Of Young Women About Handling Dysmenorrhea At SMAN 1 Krian, Sidoarjo Regency

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is pain felt in the lower abdomen that is felt during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea can disrupt daily activities; if left untreated, it can cause reproductive organ abnormalities not to be detected, including endometriosis or even infertility. The aim of this research was to identify the knowledge of young women about managing dysmenorrhea at SMAN 1 Krian, Sidoarjo Regency. This type of research is descriptive. The population in this study was all 258 grade 11 female students at SMAN 1 Krian, Sidoarjo Regency. The sample in this study was 72 female students from SMAN 1 Krian, Sidoarjo Regency. The technique used to take samples is simple random sampling. Data was collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed using frequency distributions and percentages. The results of the research show that more than half of young women's knowledge about managing dysmenorrhea is in the good category, and a small percentage is poor. Judging from the source of information, more than half of the knowledge of young women who get information from electronic media is in the good category; a small portion is poor. Judging from experience, more than half of young women who have experienced dysmenorrhea have good knowledge, and a small number have less. It is hoped that young women will maintain their knowledge about treating dysmenorrhea, continue to increase their knowledge about treating dysmenorrhea, and seek information about good actions to treat dysmenorrhea.
